Senior Business Analyst – M&A Integration
Senior Business Analyst – M&A Integration
We are seeking a senior analyst to support post-acquisition integration activity, with a strong focus on understanding, assessing and documenting the systems, processes, operating models and organisational structures of newly acquired businesses.
This role will sit at the front end of the integration process. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out deep analysis across the acquired organisation, identifying how the business currently operates, where key dependencies exist, where risks or inefficiencies may sit, and what needs to be considered before integration activity is handed over to operational delivery teams.
This is a senior role suited to someone who can work independently, engage confidently with stakeholders across both the acquiring and acquired businesses, and translate complex findings into clear, structured analysis that can be acted on by operations, technology, finance, HR, legal, compliance and wider integration teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead detailed post-acquisition discovery and analysis across business functions, systems, processes, data flows, controls, people structures and operational dependencies.
- Assess the current-state operating model of acquired businesses, including how work is performed, where ownership sits, what systems are used, and how information moves across the organisation.
- Map key business processes end to end, identifying duplication, gaps, manual workarounds, control weaknesses, integration risks and opportunities for standardisation or improvement.
- Analyse technology and systems landscapes across acquired entities, including core platforms, local tools, reporting mechanisms, data sources, integrations and business-critical applications.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to understand business priorities, operational constraints, integration goals and potential areas of risk.
- Produce clear, structured analysis packs, current-state assessments, process maps, gap analyses, risk logs and handover documentation for operational teams.
- Identify where acquired business processes align or conflict with the target operating model of the wider group.
- Support the creation of integration roadmaps by providing evidence-based recommendations on sequencing, dependencies, priorities and potential quick wins.
- Act as a bridge between M&A, integration leadership and operational delivery teams, ensuring that analysis is robust, practical and ready for execution.
- Challenge assumptions and surface issues early, particularly where there may be hidden complexity in systems, processes, contracts, data, people or controls.
- Support due diligence follow-on activity where required, validating assumptions made during the transaction process and identifying operational realities post-completion.
Required Experience
- Strong experience in M&A, post-merger integration, business transformation, operational analysis or complex change environments.
- Proven ability to analyse business processes, systems, data flows and operating models across multiple functions.
- Experience working in post-acquisition environments, ideally assessing newly acquired businesses before integration into a wider group or operating model.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage senior business leaders, functional heads and operational SMEs.
- Excellent documentation and analysis capability, including process mapping, current-state assessments, gap analysis, options analysis and handover packs.
- Ability to work with ambiguity and incomplete information, particularly in fast-moving acquisition or integration environments.
- Strong commercial and operational judgement, with the ability to identify what matters, what is noise, and what needs to be escalated.
- Experience working across multiple business areas such as operations, finance, HR, technology, legal, compliance, procurement or customer operations.
- Comfortable challenging stakeholders professionally and asking the right questions to uncover risks, dependencies and inefficiencies.
Useful Background
- Experience in consulting, corporate development, integration management office, transformation, operational excellence or senior business analysis roles would be highly relevant.
- Exposure to target operating model design, process improvement, systems rationalisation, data migration, business readiness or integration planning would be beneficial.
- Experience working with private equity-backed, acquisitive or fast-scaling organisations would be advantageous.

Person Profile
The ideal candidate will be a senior, commercially minded analyst who is comfortable operating in complex and ambiguous environments. They will be able to quickly understand how a business works, cut through detail, identify the key operational issues and produce clear analysis that enables delivery teams to take action.
They will need to be credible with senior stakeholders, strong enough to challenge where required, and practical enough to avoid producing analysis that looks good on paper but cannot be used by the teams responsible for delivery.
This is not a junior documentation role. The successful candidate will need to bring judgement, structure, pace and confidence to the early stages of post-acquisition integration.
