About the Role

We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Technical Architect to provide hands-on SME support to an established internal ServiceNow team following a recent go-live.

This is a full-time contract role focused primarily on BAU platform support, including incident resolution, maintenance, platform stability, request creation, and smaller backlog enhancements. Depending on the calibre and availability of the successful contractor, there may also be scope to support larger platform initiatives including API integrations and the development of a new Customer Service Management portal.

This role would suit a senior ServiceNow specialist who is comfortable working across both architecture and hands-on delivery, supporting an existing team while also helping to improve the platform over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ServiceNow SME support to the internal team across BAU activities.
  • Support incident investigation, triage, resolution and platform maintenance.
  • Assist with minor enhancements, request creation and backlog items.
  • Review existing platform configuration and provide technical guidance where needed.
  • Support the design and delivery of smaller ServiceNow enhancements.
  • Provide architectural input on platform improvements and future roadmap items.
  • Where capacity allows, support larger backlog items including API integrations.
  • Potentially support the design and delivery of a new CSM portal for a new customer.
  • Ensure ServiceNow changes are delivered in line with best practice, governance and security requirements.
  • Work closely with internal technical teams, stakeholders and platform owners.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and guidance to internal team members.

Essential Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience as a ServiceNow Technical Architect or Senior ServiceNow Consultant.
  • ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) certification is essential.
  • Active UK Security Clearance is essential.
  • Strong experience supporting ServiceNow platforms in live production environments.
  • Experience with BAU platform support, incidents, maintenance and enhancements.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow architecture, configuration and development best practice.
  • Experience creating and enhancing request workflows, forms, catalog items and platform processes.
  • Ability to assess backlog items and advise on technical approach, complexity and priority.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working remotely with distributed technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently and provide senior-level technical guidance.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with ServiceNow CSM / Customer Service Management.
  • Experience designing or building customer-facing ServiceNow portals.
  • Experience with ServiceNow API integrations.
  • Experience working in highly secure, regulated or defence-related environments.
  • Experience supporting post-go-live ServiceNow stabilisation.
  • Experience mentoring or upskilling internal ServiceNow teams.

Type of Person Needed

We need someone who is not just an architect "on paper". The successful person needs to be comfortable getting into the weeds with the team, helping with incidents, minor changes and backlog items, while still bringing proper architectural oversight.

This is not a pure strategy role. It requires someone senior enough to advise and design properly, but practical enough to support BAU delivery and platform improvements day to day.
